Interactions with animals can help stimulate the brain and boost overall mood and wellbeing, that is why in Chestnut Lodge we try to incorporate as much animal therapy as possible. We have had a range of visits including meerkats, alpacas and therapy dogs. The residents absolutely love a visit from some little furry-mood boosters!

Some of the key benefits animals have include:

  • Calm agitation in those with dementia
  • Socialisation
  • Reduces stress and depression
  • Brings back happy memories
